Call for Papers
We invite high-quality submissions focusing on applying cutting-edge data-driven artificial intelligence and machine learning methodologies to scientific discovery problems, including physics, chemistry, biology, and other subareas of natural sciences, to the first International Conference on AI for Science. We expect the submissions to exhibit both scientific insights and computational interests (in AI). We are devoted to bridging the publication and review process in both AI and Science communities, see [submission track] and [review process] below.

Submission Tracks:
To establish a smooth transition between individual AI and science publications, we have two submission tracks:
- Conference proceeding/non-proceeding track: major contributed content for poster and oral presentations in each symposium. We review both proceeding and non-proceeding papers following the same review process, with the option for the authors to select non-proceeding mode if the paper is planned or has already been submitted to other journal proceedings. [Note that we do not allow parallel submission to other machine learning conferences or journals, e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, JMLR, TMLR]
-
Highlight track: highly selective contributed content for oral presentations at the main conference. Program chairs will review and select from submissions directly. Submission expects a one-page PDF (excluding references) with a description about the intended talk content, including the title, abstract, and bio of the speaker, with additional summaries and/or figures about the work. Submission can be based on published or under-review works.
Submission guidelines:
All submissions must be in a single PDF format, including, in this suggested order:
- The submitted paper main content
- Paper references
- [Optional] supplementary content (additional texts, codes, demos, etc.)
Supplementary codes, demos etc.
Paper length: For Conference proceeding/non-proceeding track, each submission is suggested to be at a maximum of 9 pages for the main content using [ICAIS template], including all figures and tables.
Abstract submission: Submitting an abstract early can help the program chairs to make some initial decision on whether your submission is suitable for ICAIS and allow them to invite the most suitable reviewers for each paper via a “reviewer bid and assignment process” based on the abstract.
Review Process:
Recognizing the highly interdisciplinary nature of AI for Science, we are committed to establishing two distinct pools of reviewers and area chairs: one with a primary focus on AI and another with a primary focus on individual scientific fields. Decisions will be made with reviewer-reviewer, reviewer-AC, and AC-AC discussions from both sides.
Double-blind review: We will use a double-blind review process for all the papers
Dual submission policy: ICAIS accepts dual submission to scientific journals, preprint servers, and non-proceeding workshops/symposium presentations, but not submissions that have been accepted by or are under review process in other AI/ML conferences.
Rebuttal process: Authors will have one week to view and respond to initial reviews. A rolling rebuttal process will be performed for the authors and reviewers during this period, but at most 2 rounds. New results may be included if they help clarify reviewer concerns, but please note that the original submission remains the primary basis for acceptance decisions.
